We’ve taken Edara to the US Open in New York, the Australian Open in Melbourne and the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. Now, let’s take Edara to a golf tournament—THE golf tournament: The Masters at Augusta National!
This weekend marks the most prestigious golf tournament of the year: The Masters at the Augusta National Golf Club. The perfectly manicured greens, tall pines, pink azaleas and iconic green jacket has us thinking of Spring clothing and how amazing it would be to someday attend this tournament in person.
So, what does a woman wear to attend a golf tournament? Can you wear a tennis dress to a golf tournament?
Let’s dive in! Golf, as with tennis, is a very traditional sport and facilities often have a dress code. You will want to check with the host facility to ensure you are appropriately dressed for the occasion.
Here are our top tips on what to wear to the Masters:
-
Dress comfortably.
You'll be doing a lot of walking (probably 5+ miles on average) and likely either standing or sitting on the grass most of the time, so you'll want to wear clothes that are comfortable and won't restrict your movement.
-
Dress appropriately for the weather.
The weather in Augusta, Georgia, can vary from year to year, so it's important to check the forecast before you pack your bags. If it's going to be hot and humid (which it most likely will), you'll want to wear light, loose-fitting and breathable clothing. However, early mornings can be cool so you'll want to have a layer.
-
Dress stylishly.
The Masters is a formal event, steeped in history and tradition, so you'll want to dress in a way that reflects that. Avoid wearing anything too casual or revealing.
-
Dress in a way that makes you feel confident.
The most important thing is to wear something that makes you feel good about yourself. If you feel confident in what you're wearing, you'll be able to enjoy the Masters even more.
Here are a few general outfit ideas for the Masters:
A sundress or skirt with a polo or sweater.
A pair of khaki or navy pants or shorts with a tucked-in sleeveless polo shirt or button-down shirt and belt.
A golf or tennis specific dress that is sporty but chic and classy.
Accessories you must take:
Comfortable shoes. Forget the high heels or flimsy sandals. Go with a classic sneaker or comfortable flat.
A layer such as a cardigan, windbreaker or zip-up.
A crossbody, fanny pack or small bag. Spectators at the Masters are required to check their phones, but you’ll want your other essentials on you.
Sunglasses and a hat for sun protection.
Our Edara Masters Look
You can’t go wrong with a classic white athletic dress, because it is effortlessly sporty and made of material that will keep you cool and comfortable throughout the long day. Our go-to is the Edara Ruffle.
A cardigan is the perfect preppy layer (can ‘Golf Grandma Aesthetic’ be the next trend?) for when it cools off under the shady trees or loosely tied over your shoulders throughout the event.
A classic Janessa Leone sun hat and a coordinating ratan crossbody bag keep this look neutral but on trend.
A favorite pair of sunglasses and On sneakers and you are ready for the day at the Masters! Enjoy!
If any of you head to the Masters this year, drop us a note and a photo, as we would love to see your golf tournament style!
